Apparition

2014, chashama @ Chelsea, NY, USA

Apparition is inspired by dreamlike ideologies, in it I portrayed a ghostly female figure emerging and vanishing from the publics view, interacting with the surrounding installation art - Rhizome - made with transparent organza fabric stuffed with polyester, installed in a particular way forming a labyrinth of unfinished cubic structures.

Rhizome is my interpretation of the philosophical term used by the French writers Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari in Capitalism and Schizophrenia (1972-80) to describe an alternative model for society. The authors describe a non-hierarchical, horizontal mapped system that allows multiple entities to move freely - as opposed to the vertical structure of modern society.
